DEF JAM SIGNS SHYNE FOR 7-FIGURE DEAL?!

Posted in Entertainment on February 18, 2010 by WADE B.

Missinfo reports:
Multiple sources have confirmed to me that Shyne Po has signed a 7-figure deal with Def Jam.

This ends a bidding war that had industry bigwigs vying for Shyne’s attention, flying to Belize, calling and courting, ever since the Brooklyn emcee was released from prison and deported to Belize back in October.

For Shyne to turn down hard-court pressure from Jimmy Iovine/Dr.Dre and others and instead join LA Reid back at his last known recording-residence actually seems like an inevitable move….because I’ve been hearing that Shyne has been pow-wowing with veteran manager Kyambo “HipHop” Joshua for a while now. Joshua and his HipHopSince1978 partners, Gee Roberson, also manage Lil Wayne, Drake, Young Jeezy and more. Meanwhile, my old friend Al Branch is both a partner in HipHopSince1978 and a high-level exec at Def Jam…see how that works? Synergy! Now there have been recent reports of new label-wide pressures, but with this team in place, Shyne is in good hands.

Shyne will reportedly be working out of London, UK.

CONTROL YOUR IPHONE MUSIC PLAYER FROM YOUR COMPUTER!

Posted in Entertainment on February 17, 2010 by WADE B.

I just came up on this last night. It really does work. In a nutshell, you can control your iPhone’s music from your laptop. So if it’s docked to some speakers, and you don’t have a remote of course, then you can control your tunes from your windows PC or Mac 🙂 Here’s the official article (more detailed)

Bowtie for iPhone allows you to control your iPhone or iPod touch’s music player from your Mac or Windows PC.

Ever wanted to pause your iPhone while it’s docked on your great stereo system at the other side of your living room? Or perhaps just skip a song on your iPod touch in your pocket while you’re working in front of your computer? Bowtie for iPhone and iPod touch does all of that, and more.

You need either Bowtie for Mac or Bowtie Remote for Windows to use Bowtie for iPhone. Both applications are available free of charge at http://bowtieapp.com.

You can purchase Bowtie from the App Store for $0.99.

IT’S ALMOST HERE

Posted in Entertainment on February 15, 2010 by WADE B.

Rap-Up: The wait is almost over. Drake has selected the first single from his highly-anticipated debut album.

The first offering from Thank Me Later will be called “Over.” Drizzy exclusively tells Rap-Up.com that the track was produced by fellow Canadian Boi-1da, who is responsible for two of his biggest hits, “Best I Ever Had” and “Forever.”

The Young Money signee went through a painstaking process before choosing the right single. “Before I start working a single, I need to get about 10, 15, 20 songs done so I can pick from a batch of music as opposed to just committing to something right now,” he told Rap-Up.com in November. “It takes a lot for me to put a song onto that list. It’s gotta be a real great song. It’s gotta be something that I feel is timeless and is better than anything that I’ve ever done.”

The album, due this spring, is expected to feature collaborations with Jay-Z (“Light Up”), Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and The-Dream (“Shut It Down”), as well as production from Kanye West, Noah “40” Shebib, and Tone Mason.
